Quick and easy to Make
This recipe is very quick, super yummy, crummy and just what nut/seed butter should be, it is based on LSA. LSA is a great Aussie invention, simply a perfect blend of ground linseed, Sunflower and Almond, it can be sprinkled on or stirred into almost everything sweet or savoury, Nut and seed butters tend to be expensive and often have ingredients you don’t want. This blend of linseed (flax) sunflower and almond is great for omega-3, 6 & 9, but no palm oil, no saturated fats, no salt. If you need to be Nut-free too, just swap out the almond out and replace them with pumpkin seeds.
More Omega-3, More Fibre, Low GI, Better Fatty acid balance = Better nutrition
The recipe contains cold-pressed linseed oil for essential omega-3 which both almonds and sunflower seeds are completely missing. Sunflower seeds are rather low in fibre, adding linseed makes this high fibre lower GI, lower carb.
Nut and seed butters tend to be quite pricy in the shops, another benefit of making your own is it is so cheap to make. You also have the advantage of seeing the ingredients you use to make it so you know you’re eating a butter made from the best possible ingredients.
I sometimes blend the butter to softer, almost to cream consistency by adding more cold-pressed linseed oil and use it with yoghurt, fruits and grains in breakfast and dessert.
