Customer testimonial to linseed for coughs

We were interested to get this testimonial and recipe as we have had other customers swearing by linseed tea for even the most persistent coughs.

The cough remedy recipe from Jo:

“I have a recipe, well it’s sort of a recipe. It’s what I take when I have a cough or sore throat, like now. 🙁

Bring to boil 2 tablespoons or so of brown linseeds (flaxseeds) in about 1/2-1 litre of water, and simmer gently ntil the liquid turns to a somewhat gloopy consistency.  Takes about 30 minutes -1hr.

Then strain through a sieve. If it is too thick to strain either add more water and boil until it becomes a homogenous thinner consistency or just drink with the seeds in.

Take the strained gloopy liquid and add a good squeeze of lemon juice and 2 teaspoons of honey, drink when still warm or allow to cool.

I take it twice a day [or as often as you feel you need] it’s very pleasant.

Kind regards

Alternative Flavour suggestions

Make up a thicker tea by using a bit less water or more seed so that when boiled it just goes through a sieve.

  1. Then dilute 50-50 with milk of preference, some strawberries (or other berries, fresh or frozen) some stevia or other sweetener (if you like things sweet), and some honey then blend in a liquidiser
  2. Add diluted tea to milk as above, add cocoa powder, stevia and honey, optional extra add a little fresh ginger or ginger powder and blend in a liquidiser, sweeten to taste with stevia or other sweeteners.
  3. Add diluted tea to milk as above. Add 1/2 to 1 level teaspoon of turmeric, 1 teaspoon -1 tablespoon of Flax Farm cold-pressed linseed (flaxseed) oil, a pinch of black pepper, honey and sweetener to taste

All the above can be drunk hot, warm or chilled as many times a day as you like.
