Holism Study
Flax (linseed) showed more improvement in symptoms than fish oil
A study, commenced in 2011, from the HOLISM database shows omega-3s from linseed (flaxseed) oil compared with fish oil in a new light. The study which collected detail lifestyle data from people with MS from all round the world.
Study by Dr Jelinek GA, Hadgkiss EJ, JWeiland TJ, Pereira N, Marck CH, van der Meer DMDr George Jelinek and others published on Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis website. the HOLISM Study, shows that in the treatment of MS there was no significant effect of taking fish oil alone for omega-3, whereas those supplementing with flaxseed (linseed) oil alone had a reduction in relapse rate of over 60%.
The OMS website and Dr Jelinek now recommend multiple sclerosis patients to take linseed (flax) oil in preference to fish oil as a supplement for omega-3. See our Multiple Sclerosis page for more information about using linseed oil for MS and other autoimmune conditions.
