Menopause is a natural change in hormone level often starting from the age of 40, leading up to the end of periods. The symptoms associated with it can go on for years for some women. The years leading up to the menopause, the perimenopause, can also be subject to the effect of changing hormone levels. I was lucky I discovered flaxseed before I hit the perimenopause, from that moment forward my periods became more regular than before and my monstrous PMT symptoms stopped. When eventually I hadn’t had a period for three months I guessed it was the menopause, I got no other symptoms and as a bonus no more .periods,  how good is that! I  know most women don’t have such a good time and suffer really miserable symptoms. There are some really useful benefits using flaxseed as Nature’s HRT.

These symptoms can significantly can be very unpleasant for some people. Flaxseed is Nature’s  richest source of lignans which are mild phytonutrients that when digested look like human oestrogen to our bodies. This means that when your body if suffering unpleasant effects of the menopause helps alleviate the typical symptoms.

Lignans have the benefit of buffering hormones levels in tissue, thereby protecting oestrogen sensitive areas from being flooded with dangerously high levels of oestrogen.
