Kind to the digestion
If you have a very sensitive digestion that rebels when you try new foods but feel you may benefit from linseed starting with just the tea two or three times a day can be a great aid for the digestion and is a very gentle way to introduce linseed to your diet.
Soothing for throat and chest
Soothing for accute, persistent or chronic tickles to the throat or chest. Drink three times a day, Add lemon and honey or blackcurrant juice for a hot drink. I use add a handful of strawberries, honey and some sort of milk to make a soothing cold drink.
Rich source of soluble fibre
Linseed tea is a pleasant hot or cold drink. It has a mild flavour somewhat reminiscent of rich tea biscuits. It can be added to other drinks. It has all the benefits of the soluble fibre.
Hydrating
In central and South America linseed tea has a great reputation for being hydrating. They mix the tea 50/50 with fruit juice and enjoy as a refreshing cold drink, The possible reason for its benefit is that the soluble fibre helps regulate absorption of water so a drink keeps you feel refreshed and less thirsty longer. Since drinking this before workouts instead of plain water I find I don’t need to take a bottle of water to the gym or running.
Linseed tea, drink hot or cold
You can add herbal teabags, lemon, honey for hot drink or any fruit juice for a cold drink.
Calorie-free; a great base for lighter, low GI smoothies
Try cold linseed tea as a calorie base with linseed goodness for smoothies and helps you absorb the fruit sugars more slowly. A great alternative to milk, yoghurt or juice in a smoothie. Lowers the Glycemic Index of the fruit in your smoothie so a great aid to control appetite, weight and blood sugar levels.
