Stop press news: Yesterday we had our annual Soil Association Organic inspection, which we stress about for weeks beforehand. If you want to know more about what they check when visiting us there is more information here. Soil Association Check
We sailed through it. Flax Farm is still formally Organic for the next 12 months. The inspector was lovely and very complimentary about Flax Farm and our products.
Autumn is here

Created for Halloween or any autumn day, these are luxurious pumpkin Flaxjacks which have just the right balance of spices, studded with chocolate chips and topped with dark and white chocolate. If these sound lovely – they taste even better. Order yours now.
Super-Healthy Spiced Pumpkin with Apple Flaxjacks are new. They are part of our low temperature cooked, no added sugar, no saturated fat range.
I made these because I want an Autumn treat while I am taking my diet very seriously so these are just about WFPB apart from the inclusion of about 5ml extra Flaxseed Oil in each slice. This makes them useful for the OMS diet too. As a bonus they are high in fibre.

Whole Food Plant Based, WFPB
A Whole Food Plant Based diet (WFPB) is a term coined by the biochemist T. Colin Campbell, (https://nutritionstudies.org/history-of-the-term-whole-food-plant-based/) who wrote The China Stud. It refers to food that is mainly from plants, minimal or no animal products, as unprocessed as possible, certainly no ultra-processed food or ingredients. It can be summed up by: “Nothing bad added, nothing good taken away”. It often means making your meals yourself. This is very different from foods labelled “plant-based” which can highly processed UPFs.
Whether you are looking to lose weight, or been advised to increase fibre in your diet, eat more healthily to improve your next set of blood test results or correct some bad ones WFPB can be a great way to do it. Part of the success of WFPB is that it keeps salt to a minimum, leaves out saturated fats, ultra-processed, inflammatory foods and greatly increases fibre in the diet.
Ground Flax is a superfood wholefood and a great ally when you are doing WFPB. It is very versatile and really bumps up the fibre levels. It also helps the tummy adapt quickly to this if it is a new way of eating for you.
