- Great with a coffee
- A sugar-free energy pick-me-up
- A delicious way to eat linseed
This is quick easy recipe is for a healthy version of the traditional Indian sweetmeat “alsi pinni laddoo/laddu” which I have been told about by numerous Indian-born ladies visiting my market stall at Borough Market. It always started “oh we use this (linseed) as a winter food”.
Calorie-burning food
This ancient Indian wisdom, put to work on keeping people warm in winter in houses without central heating is due to linseed’s metabolism boosting, warming properties – linseed signals the body to burn calories more freely – hence its use in losing weight. In this recipe the linseed is enhanced with fragrant warming spices. Every family obviously had their own version. This is my take on the original pinni laddoo recipes; for me it has to have no added sugar, gluten-free with no wheat flour.
- Wheat-free
- Gluten-free
- No added sugar
- Lots of Omega-3
- Digestion-friendly fibre
- Low GI sweet
Tasty way to enjoy linseed
If you need to add linseed to your diet this is a concentrated tasty way of getting its health-digestion, hormone-balancing, joint-soothing benefits.
